Just the other day I was reading a book from a new Dad who wrote a set of wise lessons to his daughter when she was born, and it has inspired me to write this post… When one day I leave this world, I really want my son and daughter to have these wise words as my last piece of wisdom passed onto them.
In today’s world, everyone is trying to get you into their own set of behaviors. There are so many rules. Overnight unethical celebrities are coming to the world and you look up to them as a person to look up to. Here is one thing I ask of you. BE YOURSELF. Everyone else is taken. Don’t try to pretend to be someone you are not. YOU are YOU! And be the best you, that you can be.
Learn to say NO!
You will be pressured into making the decisions that appeal to the majority of people. Others will pressure you into making decisions that fit in their goals reach. YOU are your own person and do what you think and feel is the best for YOU… Whatever decision you end up making, make sure it is YOURS and no matter what the outcome of it is, stick to it and live with consequences.
Follow YOUR dreams!
Don’t follow other people dreams. YOU were given a gift of life. A gift that should be cherished. You are meant to experience a lot… so LIVE your life to the fullest. Don’t be satisfied with crumbs. Go out there and chase what your heart and mind desire.
Being afraid to make mistakes means you are NOT trying. If you are not making mistakes, you are not living and you are not doing your best. Mistakes are your biggest lessons in life. Mistakes are part of the experience… RISK!
Everything is possible!
People tend to say, that is impossible. For me…That is just a word. EVERYTHING is possible. You can achieve what your heart desires, as long as you keep chasing after your dreams. Stop the limits others are trying to imprint in you.
Ask for help!
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. There are good people in this world who will gladly guide you in reaching your goals. Mentors are great to have, and they will help you reach higher success faster.
Invest in yourself!
Most people think they should stop reading and learning once they finish high school or college. Keep on learning and keep on implementing what you learn. Keep on investing in yourself as you are the most valuable ‘asset’ you can have.
Yes, life is going to throw you some curve balls and you are going to ask, WHY ME! Remember that you are here to experience and grow as you go through those experiences. After the storm passes, you are going to become stronger and wiser.
Learn to forgive!
There are going to be people in life who are going to disappoint you. Who will hurt you and you will kick them out of your life. GOOD for you… But while you are at it, don’t let the anger ruin you. Learn to forgive and move on. Forgiveness is a powerful ‘tool’ that helps YOU.
As life goes on, there are going to be times you will be presented with “quick solutions” to your problems. Be careful of those. Often times those are unethical solutions and all I can say, “karma is a bitch”.
Be grateful for the good and the bad in your life. Even what seems to be bad, often times it shows that there was a really good reason behind it. Accept it (you don’t have to like it) but accept that it is happening, and do your best to stay calm throughout the situation.
You are going to meet many people in life. But only a handful of people you can call true friends. You will know exactly who those are… Those friendships you need to cherish and nurture. Sometimes your life paths will take you in different directions, but real relationships will continue no matter where you are in the world.
At times as you reach success, you are going to feel like you can do ANYTHING and ego will play a roll in that too. Remember your humble beginnings. You did not reach that level of success by having your ego take over, you did it because you stayed the course and persisted.
People will show up in your life to help you reach your goals. Listen to them. Accept the help given. And once you reach the success, help others as well. Help does not always come in the materialistic sense… Sometimes it is just enough to listen to the other person
Thank you for being YOU!
You are an inspiration to me… Keep on being you…Keep on living your life and I look forward to watching YOU become the best you can be.
